Who operates R&W Custom Leatherworks?
R&W Custom Leatherworks, is co-operated by Dan Ragan ("R") and Wiz Feinberg ("W"). We are a small custom shop, doing mostly one-of-a-kind custom fitted leather goods, long-lasting leather belts, sewing and leather repairs.
About Dan Ragan
Dan Ragan brings over 3 decades of experience in leather work to add to my 3 decades in the field, giving us a combined 60+ years of professional experience. His specialties are in hand carved and dyed leather items, stamped name belts, custom fitted, hand sewn holsters and cases and motorcycle accessories. Dan has a huge collection of leather stamping tools, alphabets and patterns, which he uses in the shop to produce hand tooled leather goods to order. Dan's leather carving is top-notch!
About Wiz (Wizcrafts)
This website was first created under the name "Wizcrafts Custom Leatherworks," way back in 1997, as a sub-domain on my local dial-up ISP. At the time, Wizcrafts was run by yours truly, Wiz Feinberg, as a sole proprietorship, which I started in 1985. My "thing" was making bridle leather and hand tooled belts and guitar straps, custom designed and fitted leather vests, Western and competition hand gun holsters, double leather gun and weight belts, and all kinds of medium to heavy duty contract sewing.
Times and circumstances change and a couple of years ago an opportunity presented itself to team up with another local leather crafter and work together rather than compete against each other. So, on August 1, 2012, Wizcrafts Custom Leatherworks merged with Ragan's Custom Leathercraft, to form R & W Custom Leatherworks. This alliance is capable of producing all manner of custom built leather belts, hand gun holsters, knife sheathes, phone cases and motorcycle accessories.
Over the course of the 10 years we've been in business I moved most of my leather sewing machines into the shop, leaving a patch machine and a flat bed walking foot leather sewing machine at home. I have been doing most of the sewing jobs, including sewing patches onto vests and jackets. I also have a large collection of leather stamping tools and do all kinds of geometric tooling on belts, guitar straps, gun belts and other custom orders. Between the two of us, we can hand tool, hand carve, assemble, repair and sew just about any type of small to medium size leather items, including saddles.
