R&W Custom Leatherworks has a new location

Good News! We have secured a new place to do business. The new location will be in Birch Run, Michigan, among the factory outlet stores. The building's address is 12247 S Beyer Rd, Birch Run, Mi 48415. We are going to be inside Flash Back Vintage, Antiques, and Art, LLC, which is next door to Old Navy.

At the time of this post we are in the early process of getting the room ready to move our equipment in. There are electrical and plumbing tasks to be completed first. We are hoping to be able to open for business on May 1, 2023.

The building we are in is hosting a lot of vendors who sell antiques or works of art. Some of them used to be our neighbors in Collette's Vintage Mall, which closed on December 31, 2022. We are pumped at the opportunity to be part of this budding enterprise!. Our leather shop will be located behind the wall in the south-east side of the building. There will be signs on the doorway to the shop and on the walls around it.

Since this is a brand new business location for everybody involved, we are starting out with plans to work Tuesdays through Sundays. Our projected hours are from 10 until 5, just like they were when we were hosted by Collette's Vintage Mall, in Burton, Michigan. We will adjust the days and times as necessary as time goes by and we see how the traffic is in the building.

By the time the doors open to the public, Dan and I will have been out of business for 5 months. That's a long vacation! Time to get back to work! We will try to bring in some new items we hope you will like. One thing we are already making is extra thick bridle leather belts that will last a lifetime. Bridle leather is specially tanned and dyed all the way through, and is embedded with waxes and oils to preserve it from the effects of moisture, heat and cold. This is the leather that is used in high end horse tack. As you know, horses wear their tack outside, in all types of weather. Bridle leather has a smooth pasted back (aka: flesh side) and is colorfast. One of our bridle leather belts could last so long you can pass it down to your children.

We will be sewing patches onto vests and jackets and hats, replacing zippers, hemming pants and chaps and making gun holsters and knife/axe sheathes to order. Custom orders are welcome for other things made of leather. I will have my heat press in the shop to emboss gold or silver leafed names into leather goods you have, or you get from us.

If there's something you would like to be able to get from us, let us know in the comments. We still have quite a few Western straw hats left that will be for sale in the shop and a good variety of wallets. We also have lots of embroidered patches for sale and can sew or iron them onto your garments or bags.

Until then, I am sewing patches onto bikers' vests at home, in Flint, Michigan, and Dan has been making knife and axe sheathes at his place in Montrose, Michigan. Since many of my sewing customers are in Flint, or Lapeer, the Thumb, or even downstate, I will continue sewing patches on at home when I'm not in the leather shop. I know you guys can't leave your club vests out of your sight and will sew while you watch. Send me a private message to set a time and get my location.

You can send us messages through our contact page. We will reply as soon as possible. We are also on Facebook, as R&W Custom Leatherworks. Like us please.

Dan and I hope to see y'all real soon! Wiz is 10-7 for now..
